The single most useful thing you can tell us about a flat is the floor and whether
there is a lift. Almost everything else follows — crew size, how long the day runs, and
whether the awkward pieces are a problem or an afternoon.
Town-centre conversions
Northampton, Kettering, Wellingborough The constraint
An original staircase, a shared street door and a landing that turns.
What we do
The turn gets measured at survey. Sofas go up on their backs or come apart at the back; a few genuinely will not go, and you hear that beforehand rather than on a half-landing.
Purpose-built blocks
Across the towns The constraint
A lift that may not take long items, and a bay with a time limit.
What we do
We check the lift's internal dimensions rather than assuming, and split the load so long pieces take the stairs while the rest goes up properly.
Modern apartments
Northampton town centre and the newer developments The constraint
A managing agent, a booking sheet and sometimes restricted hours.
What we do
Insurance documents and a booked window sent ahead, so the day is a move rather than a negotiation at the front desk.
Flats above shops
Every market town in the county The constraint
A door between two shopfronts, a straight steep flight, and nowhere to stop.
What we do
A loading arrangement agreed with the shop and the council where needed, and a crew sized for a carry rather than a lift.
What a flat move includes
The same standard as a house, sized down. Furniture blanketed in the room, boxes
labelled for where they are going, beds and flat-pack dismantled and rebuilt, and
runners on communal hallways — shared carpet is somebody else's problem right up until
it is yours and your deposit's.
Packaging goes away with us at the end, which matters more than it sounds when a
check-out inspection is booked the same week.
Smaller or larger than this?
A single room or a part load is a man-and-van
job. A whole house is house removals.
